After hearing reports about the March 01, 2010 phone conference, it seems to me that we are wasting our time trying to get co-operation and fair treatment from the United States Forest Service. To quote Dr. Phil, "The best predictor of future behavior is relevant past behavior". In that light, let us not forget that these same USFS people acted with total contempt and in complete insubordination in Wyoming. Federal Officers defied direct orders from the Undersecretary of Agriculture Mark Rey. With our own eyes, we have witnessed the USFS "throw their own people under the bus". In my view, I don't see how we can expect them to change. If they don't change, then we should. Change our approach and talk to different people. We should be writing to the Undersecretary of Agriculture directly. Folks should write to every single member of the Senate, the Congress and the Cabinet with cc's to all major news outlets.
I've heard it said that insanity is defined by doning the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. That's what we've been doing for years. Isn't it time to learn from past mistakes and realize that we should move in another direction with a new strategy?
